Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room
April 20, 2022
Read Colossians 4:2-6
2 Keep on praying and guard your prayers with thanksgiving. 3 At the same time, pray for us also. Pray that God would open a door for the word so we can preach the secret plan of Christ—which is why I’m in chains. 4 Pray that I might be able to make it as clear as I ought to when I preach. 5 Act wisely toward outsiders, making the most of the opportunity. 6 Your speech should always be gracious and sprinkled with insight so that you may know how to respond to every person.
Good Morning, Pray and give thanks for everything in your life.
We are living in a world filled with non-believers. Many churches have empty pews, and political leaders have worked to remove God from public places such as work locations and schools. Our task to spread the Good News is quite daunting.
I believe that our barren land is fertile and ready for a new planting of seeds. As we plant, we must nurture those young seedlings. Some of our seeds will fall into the cracks, but many will sprout. Seedlings come in all shapes and sizes, but all must be cared for so that they may become fruitful and multiply.
No matter what laws prohibit God’s presence, God is not bound by the laws of man. Walk as Jesus taught us and reach out to those in need. Those who are ready to hear will readily accept your words and actions. We are called to serve our Lord by feeding His sheep. Do not fear because God is with us and will give us the tools to share His word. Never lose sight of the light.
Loving and Gracious God, Thank You for loving us. We often struggle with sharing your Word with non-believers. Give us confidence. Thank You! In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen
Thought for the day: I will continue to look for ways to share the Good News.
Tend the fertile soil around you! Pastor Liz
