Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room

December 14, 2023

Psalm 130:1-8

1 I cry out to you from the depths, LORD 2 my Lord, listen to my voice! Let your ears pay close attention to my request for mercy! 3 If you kept track of sins, LORD my Lord, who would stand a chance? 4 But forgiveness is with you that’s why you are honored. 5 I hope, LORD. My whole being hopes, and I wait for God’s promise. 6 My whole being waits for my Lord more than the night watch waits for morning; yes, more than the night watch waits for morning! 7 Israel, wait for the LORD! Because faithful love is with the LORD; because great redemption is with our God! 8 He is the one who will redeem Israel from all its sin.

Good Morning. It is God who saves us!

Isaiah 12:2, “Surely it is God who saves me. I will trust in him and not be afraid. For the Lord is my stronghold and my sure defense…and he is my salvation.

God says, “I love you. No matter what you do, I am standing beside you wherever you are. Hold my hand. Take the leap of faith. I am right here. I love you, and you matter to me.”

God is listening whenever we call: when we are in the lowest depths and when we are on the highest mountain, happy or sad, strong or weak. By the grace of God, our sins are forgiven through the death and resurrection of Christ, our Lord and Savior.

So rejoice as you draw water from salvation's healing spring; on the day of your deliverance, thank the Lord, and let his mercies sing.

Gracious God, Thank you for this beautiful gift of life. You bless us and care for us always. We thank you for your love, grace, and mercy in all things. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen

Thought for the day: God hears our cries for mercy and help.

It is God who saves us from ourselves! Pastor Liz
