Liz’s Morning Devotional based upon Upper Room

Read John 13:31-35
31 When Judas was gone, Jesus said, “Now the Human One has been glorified, and God has been glorified in him. 32 If God has been glorified in him, God will also glorify the Human One in himself and will glorify him immediately. 33 Little children, I’m with you for a little while longer. You will look for me—but, just as I told the Jewish leaders, I also tell you now—‘Where I’m going, you can’t come.’ 34 “I give you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, so you also must love each other. 35 This is how everyone will know that you are my disciples when you love each other.”
Good Morning! Love one another!
As I looked up at the sky this morning, I watched in awe as the clouds quickly moved across the sky. I always find it interesting when the clouds are so visible even in the darkness. I feel comforted by this because it reminds me that even in the darkness, God is with us, looking after us. This morning the clouds seem to be racing to an unknown destination without hesitation.
I lingered a little longer to watch the magnificent clouds and contemplated God’s message to me this morning. I sensed God by my side reminding me that sometimes we move more quickly along our path, but whatever our speed we must travel without hesitation. Trust God and follow where we are led.
Regardless of our destination, we are called to love one another. This will be God’s sign to others that we belong to Christ. They will know we are Christians by our love, by our love. Yes, they’ll know we are Christians by our love.
Who do others say that you are? How do your actions define you? Jesus calls us to be an obvious sign of God’s love and joy in the world. 35 This is how everyone will know that you are my disciples when you love each other.”
Creator God, Thank You for loving us. Sometimes it is easier to stay closed in our houses where we can avoid others, but we know that we must move through the world sharing your love and joy. Help us take those first steps when we are anxious. Thank You. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen
Thought for the day: Does my relationship with Jesus show through my actions?
Let God’s love shine through you! Pastor Liz
