Liz’s Morning Devotional based upon Upper Room
January 3, 2022
Read Ephesians 3:14-21
14 This is why I kneel before the Father. 15 Every ethnic group in heaven or on earth is recognized by him. 16 I ask that he will strengthen you in your inner selves from the riches of his glory through the Spirit. 17 I ask that Christ will live in your hearts through faith. As a result of having strong roots in love, 18 I ask that you’ll have the power to grasp love’s width and length, height and depth, together with all believers. 19 I ask that you’ll know the love of Christ that is beyond knowledge so that you will be filled entirely with the fullness of God. 20 Glory to God, who is able to do far beyond all that we could ask or imagine by his power at work within us; 21 glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus for all generations, forever and always. Amen.
Good Morning! Glory to God in the Highest!
The long-awaited snow has arrived. There is something about snow that makes me as giddy as a young child. Even though I saw the snow out the window, when I opened the door to go out with Neon, I giggled and smiled at the big, fluffy flakes falling from the sky and landing on my hoodie.
As I read this morning’s passage, I am drawn to Paul’s attempt to help us realize the magnitude of Christ’s love. What if we could pull together and harness each of our understandings of Christ’s love? I believe that we would still only have recognized a small fraction of God’s power.
For us, the ability to measure the water in the oceans, or count the grains of sand on the beach, or the stars in the sky is unfathomable. God’s love and power know no bounds and far surpass any human attempts to quantify it. Praise be to God!
Creator God, Thank You for loving us. We call upon your Holy Name and praise You for all the blessings that you have given to us. Thank You. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen
Thought for the day: Christ’s love for me knows no bounds.
God is Good! All the Time! Pastor Liz
