Morning Devotional 011022 Step Out in Confidence

Liz’s Morning Devotional based upon Upper Room

January 10, 2022

Read Psalm 139:13-18

13 You are the one who created my innermost parts; you knit me together while I was still in my mother’s womb. 14 I give thanks to you that I was marvelously set apart. Your works are wonderful—I know that very well. 15 My bones weren’t hidden from you when I was being put together in a secret place when I was being woven together in the deep parts of the earth. 16 Your eyes saw my embryo, and on your scroll, every day was written that was being formed for me before any one of them had yet happened. 17 God, your plans are incomprehensible to me! Their total number is countless! 18 If I tried to count them—they outnumber grains of sand! If I came to the very end—I’d still be with you.

Good Morning! God made each of us!

This past week has been one of the most unusual that I can remember. First, came the snow that fell upon the unseasonably warm ground. I thought, “it won’t stick around long”, but as the snow continued to fall many of us lost our power. This was the beginning of a week without school and culminated with no in-person worship service yesterday.

For those days in silence without power, uninterrupted time with God was thrust upon me. I had time to think and share my blessings and my worries. This past year has been a year of many firsts for me as I moved into a new home, began serving as a local licensed pastor, started a new course of study for my ministry, initiated retirement paperwork for my teaching career, and even bought a new car.

Each of these life experiences has brought me blessings, but also anxiety as I trod in unknown waters. With each step forward, I am becoming more confident in my journey of faith because I know that God, my creator, is with me and will lift me when I stumble and even carry me when I fall. 17 God, your plans are incomprehensible to me! Their total number is countless! 18 If I tried to count them—they outnumber grains of sand! If I came to the very end—I’d still be with you.

God knows each of us intimately and has pronounced us good. Hallelujah! Step out and greet the world with confidence as a child of God. May all see God within you!

Creator God, Thank You for loving us. Sometimes we need time to think and share our lives with you. I count my blessings each day. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen

Thought for the day: I am God’s beloved — that is what defines me.

Smile! God loves you! Pastor Liz
