Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room
March 14, 2026
Acts 2:42-47
42 The believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, to the community, to their shared meals, and to their prayers. 43 A sense of awe came over everyone. God performed many wonders and signs through the apostles. 44 All the believers were united and shared everything. 45 They would sell pieces of property and possessions and distribute the proceeds to everyone who needed them. 46 Every day, they met together in the temple and ate in their homes. They shared food with gladness and simplicity. 47 They praised God and demonstrated God’s goodness to everyone. The Lord added daily to the community those who were being saved.
Good Morning, Rejoice, the Lord is near!
God calls us to work together and serve one another in love. The more we share, the stronger we become. Regardless of our individual differences, we are bound together as children of God.
We represent the diversity of the world that God created. Our outer coverings are not our connection. It is our hearts and souls that were formed by God. Think of your family: when one celebrates, all rejoice; when we face challenges, we do so together; when one suffers, we suffer as well.
Similarly, God is with us in all things. Isaiah 63:9 (NIV): "In all their distress he too was distressed, and the angel of his presence saved them. In his love and mercy he redeemed them; he lifted them up and carried them all the days of old".
God does not just witness pain; He is present within it to comfort and, eventually, to bring healing (Revelation 21:4). Likewise, God rejoices with us sharing our joy, stating He will "rejoice over you with singing" and "take great delight in you," highlighting His active participation in our happiness and well-being. Zephaniah 3:17
God of Wisdom, you bless us abundantly! We continue to see the differences in our neighbors. Help us to see you within everyone we meet. We love you. In Christ’s name we pray, Amen.
Thought for the day: God welcomes all to the community of faith.
God loves us, everyone! Pastor Liz
