Morning Devotional 032222 Oops! Help Me!

Liz’s Morning Devotional based upon Upper Room

March 22, 2022

Read Proverbs 3:5-8

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart; don’t rely on your own intelligence. 6 Know him in all your paths, and he will keep your ways straight. 7 Don’t consider yourself wise. Fear the LORD and turn away from evil. 8 Then your body will be healthy and your bones strengthened.

“My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. - Isaiah 55:8

Good Morning, Trust in the Lord with all your heart!

As God’s children, we face many challenges. Perhaps, one of the biggest challenges is that God created us to think. Our ability to think is both a blessing and a curse. We can see and do many things: both good and bad. We can read and discern God’s Word, and choose to accept Christ as our Lord and Savior.

The problem that arises is that as we grow and mature our ability to think grows as well, and we become convinced that we can take over everything for ourselves. It is easy to take charge, but it’s challenging when we fail. When we realize that we don’t know everything, it can be devastating to us. Sometimes we even “crash and burn”, but God is with us to work through even the biggest challenges in our lives.

When we ask, God will welcome us with open arms and lead us through the consequences of the messes we make. God promises to be with us always, no matter how far we stray. When we are truly “grown”, we will happily turn over our lives to Christ and follow the plan that God has for us. As a child, we lovingly trust our parents. As we grow, we go through the “I got this” phase, and try to be in charge. Then we morph into adult children of God who lovingly trust God our parent. All of this is necessary, as thinking and loving beings, to accept that God is in control and will never leave us.

Loving and Gracious God, Thank You for loving us. Once again, it comes back to trust. Thank you for giving us the ability to think, but sometimes it just gets in our way. Please continue to be by our side even when we mess up. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen

Thought for the day: God has a good plan for me.

Trust God! Pastor Liz
