Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room
March 26, 2025
Psalm 121:1-8
1 I raise my eyes toward the mountains. Where will my help come from? 2 My help comes from the LORD, the maker of heaven and earth. 3 God won’t let your foot slip. Your protector won’t fall asleep on the job. 4 No! Israel’s protector never sleeps or rests! 5 The LORD is your protector; the LORD is your shade right beside you. 6 The sun won’t strike you during the day; neither will the moon at night. 7 The LORD will protect you from all evil; God will protect your very life. 8 The LORD will protect you on your journeys whether going or coming from now until forever from now.
Good Morning. Morning has broken like the first morning!
I am very excited as I approach the special service of consecration for Rose Park this Sunday. All the big things are done and in place: the order of service, the bulletins, the emails sent, and the presentation. Additionally, I turned in my final papers for my classes early so they wouldn’t be a distraction.
Despite all my preparations, yesterday, I had a Chicken Little moment when I felt like the sky was falling, and it was my job to keep all the pieces elevated. As big events approach, micro-managing begins, making it easy to feel scattered and frantic. i.e., Chicken Little.
Fortunately, this is not my first rodeo, nor is it my first experience of panic. How perfect are God’s mysterious ways? This passage reminds me of everything I need to know. I lift my eyes upward and lean on the everlasting grace of God.
God is with us forever and always. Hallelujah! Amen!
Loving Lord, Maker of all things! In our moments of despair and panic, you are by our side, protecting us from ourselves and others. Thank you. We love you, Lord! In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen
Thought for the day: With God’s help, I will use my blessings to serve others.
Praising my Savior all the day long! Pastor Liz
