Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room
April 9, 2022
Read Philippians 4:4-9
4 Be glad in the Lord always! Again I say, be glad! 5 Let your gentleness show in your treatment of all people. The Lord is near. 6 Don’t be anxious about anything; rather, bring up all of your requests to God in your prayers and petitions, along with giving thanks. 7 Then the peace of God that exceeds all understanding will keep your hearts and minds safe in Christ Jesus. 8 From now on, brothers and sisters, if anything is excellent and if anything is admirable, focus your thoughts on these things: all that is true, all that is holy, all that is just, all that is pure, all that is lovely, and all that is worthy of praise. 9 Practice these things: whatever you learned, received, heard, or saw in us. The God of peace will be with you.
Good Morning, Rejoice! Rejoice! Again, I say Rejoice!
When I opened today’s passage, the biggest smile filled my whole being. Comfort and peace immediately consumed me. What a mighty God we serve! God cares for all of us, and God sees each of us as special. Amen!
The greatest benefit that comes from a personal relationship with God is the freedom to share our lives with God. Jesus came and gave himself for us so that we may all have a direct link to our Creator forever. God is waiting for us to give of ourselves fully. No more worries, no more fear. 7 Then the peace of God that exceeds all understanding will keep your hearts and minds safe in Christ Jesus.
Through the Holy Spirit within us, we are transformed spiritually so that we may focus on all that is good in the world and in our lives. Let go of those earthly worries because they can consume you. Focus on what is pure and lovely. God is with us each moment of our lives. Let go and be filled with peace.
Loving and Gracious God, Thank You for loving us. You gave us the ability to think, but sometimes that gets in our way. Give us the strength to recognize those things that belong to You. Thank You! In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen
Thought for the day: Prayer is our God-given answer to fear.
Rejoice! Pastor Liz
