Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room
May 5, 2022
Read 2 Corinthians 9:6-11
6 What I mean is this: the one who sows a small number of seeds will also reap a small crop, and the one who sows a generous amount of seeds will also reap a generous crop. 7 Everyone should give whatever they have decided in their heart. They shouldn’t give with hesitation or because of pressure. God loves a cheerful giver. 8 God has the power to provide you with more than enough of every kind of grace. That way, you will have everything you need always and in everything to provide more than enough for every kind of good work. 9 As it is written, He scattered everywhere; he gave to the needy; his righteousness remains forever. 10 The one who supplies seed for planting and bread for eating will supply and multiply your seed and will increase your crop, which is righteousness. 11 You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous in every way. Such generosity produces thanksgiving to God through us.
Good Morning, God loves a cheerful giver!
If only, we could serve God at all times without hesitation! What a beautiful world this would be!
I pray that you have had the opportunity to experience gifts from the heart. I’m talking about those unexpected gifts that answer a great need. I’ve shared before about strangers in my life that loaned my family a car so that we could complete a needed trip. Sometimes those gifts come in a letter or a phone call just when you most need to feel loved.
For each seed of kindness that we plant, our blessings will grow infinitely like the ripples from a rock dropped into a pool of water. Each ripple widens the scope of the act through which God’s love is shared. We often have no idea the number of people who are blessed through that one seed.
For those on the receiving end of the seed, this gift may mean the difference between deciding to take another breath or to take one more chance on life. God gave us His only Son so that we might have eternal life. Through Christ, we are called to share this gift with all without reservation and without judgment. What a wonderful world!
Loving and Gracious God, Thank You for loving us. O Lord, may we plant a bounty of seeds, so that all the world might know You. Thank You. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen
Thought for the day: God knows exactly what I need today.
Be a sower of seeds! Pastor Liz
