Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room
June 4, 2024
Psalm 111:1-10
1 Praise the LORD! I thank the LORD with all my heart in the company of those who do right, in the congregation. 2 The works of the LORD are magnificent; they are treasured by all who desire them. 3 God’s deeds are majestic and glorious. God’s righteousness stands forever. 4 God is famous for his wondrous works. The LORD is full of mercy and compassion. 5 God gives food to those who honor him. God remembers his covenant forever. 6 God proclaimed his powerful deeds to his people and gave them what had belonged to other nations. 7 God’s handiwork is honesty and justice; all God’s rules are trustworthy 8 They are established always and forever: they are fulfilled with truth and right doing. 9 God sent redemption for his people; God commanded that his covenant last forever. Holy and awesome is God’s name! 10 Fear of the LORD is where wisdom begins; sure, knowledge is for all who keep God’s laws. God’s praise lasts forever!
Good Morning! Praise God from whom all blessings flow.
As I reflect on today's scripture, I'm reminded of God’s handiwork in our lives. His honesty and justice are evident in the way he fulfills his promises and provides for us. Let's start our day with this assurance.
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, Let the earth hear His voice; Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, Let the people rejoice;
God moments are those times when what we experience can only be “explained” as an interaction with God. These do not seem possible. In fact, we probably wouldn’t believe it if someone told us about it later. I call these God’s mysterious ways: chance encounters with a long-lost friend, a flower growing and prospering in the middle of an abandoned paved parking lot, or someone who can help when you’ve lost hope.
Think of yourself in a crowd of people. When you experience a "God moment, "a time when you feel a strong connection with God, do you openly share your praises to Him?
Are we allowing God’s name to be heard, or do we walk away in silence? If we do not openly praise God, how will those who know not, learn of our magnificent creator?
Matthew 19:38-40 “Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!” 39 Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples!” 40 “I tell you,” he replied, “if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.”
Encouraging God, Thank you for this beautiful gift of life. May we be so filled by the spirit, that we make all aware that You are God and we are your children. We thank you! In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen
Thought for the day: When all seems lost, God will provide.
Shout out God’s praise! Pastor Liz
