Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room
June 27, 2025
Psalm 18:25-32
25 You deal faithfully with the faithful; you show integrity toward the one who has integrity. 26 You are pure toward the pure, but toward the crooked, you are tricky. 27 You are the one who saves people who suffer and brings down those with proud eyes. 28 You are the one who lights my lamp the LORD my God illumines my darkness. 29 With you I can charge into battle; with my God I can leap over a wall. 30 God! His way is perfect; the LORD’s word is tried and true. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him. 31 Now really, who is divine except the LORD? And who is a rock but our God? 32 Only God! The God who equips me with strength and makes my way perfect,
Good Morning! God is the one who lights our lamps in the darkness.
This morning, I begin my 68th trip around the sun. I praise God for another day of joy and thanksgiving. I thank God for the cooler temperatures this morning and the life-sustaining rain that watered my garden during the night. Most of all, I thank God for all my many blessings: family, friends, and the opportunity to serve others.
Age is such a funny thing. When we are young, we think everyone older than us is old. The older we become, the more those younger are all children. I remember my grandparents as very old, yet I realize that, according to my age, I’m about their age when I have solid memories of them.
I don’t see myself as I saw them when I was a child. I believe that we are as old as we feel, and by the grace of God, I feel remarkably young. I plan to continue racing ahead of the thoughts and ideas that age us and slow us down for as long as possible. I will ride the roller coasters (leap over a wall, David’s words, not mine) and try new things as God leads me to do.
David speaks of the remarkable God who creates and cares for us. God equips us for our path and provides all we need for the journey he planned for us so many years ago. Thanks be to God. You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore. Psalm 16:11
Giving Lord, you bless us abundantly! Thank you for the opportunity to live our lives to the fullest. You give us the tools that we need to see beauty in your creation. What a blessing! Thank you. We love you, Lord! In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen
Thought for the day: God places mentors and encouragers along our paths.
Embrace each new day! Pastor Liz
