Morning Devotional 071923 Precious In His Sight

Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room

July 19, 2023

Isaiah 43:1-7

1 But now, says the LORD the one who created you, Jacob, the one who formed you, Israel: Don’t fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are mine. 2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; when through the rivers, they won’t sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you won’t be scorched and flame won’t burn you. 3 I am the LORD your God, the holy one of Israel, your savior. I have given Egypt as your ransom, Cush and Seba in your place. 4 Because you are precious in my eyes, you are honored, and I love you. I give people in your place, and nations in exchange for your life. 5 Don’t fear, I am with you. From the east I’ll bring your children; from the west I’ll gather you. 6 I’ll say to the north, “Give them back!” and to the south, “Don’t detain them.” Bring my sons from far away, and my daughters from the end of the earth, 7 everyone who is called by my name and whom I created for my glory, whom I have formed and made.

Good Morning, Blessed be the name of the Lord!

4 Because you are precious in my eyes, you are honored, and I love you. AMEN

This trumps everything! God calls us precious, honors us, and loves us! What more do we need? No matter what else happens today. God loves us, and God is with us!

Take a moment and think of the things that are precious to you. We certainly have precious items that were given to us by loved ones. We have precious memories of our loved ones who have gone before us. We have our precious family members with us now. I hope you are feeling warm and happy inside as you consider those things and people who are precious to you.

Now consider that this is how God considers us! Oh my! When Jesus was asked how much he loved us, he opened his arms wide and died for us so that we might have everlasting life. No greater love is possible.

Enjoy today, and remember you are precious in his sight. Jesus loves us, the little children of the world.

Loving God, We thank you! We love you, Lord. We lift our voices in praise of you. Thank you! In the name of Christ, we pray. Amen

Thought for the day: Regardless of my imperfections, God loves me.

God loves us so! Pastor Liz
