Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room

August 31, 2025

Micah 6:6-8

6 With what should I approach the LORD and bow down before God on high? Should I come before him with entirely burned offerings, with year-old calves? 7 Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, with many torrents of oil? Should I give my oldest child for my crime, the fruit of my body for the sin of my spirit? 8 He has told you, human one, what is good and what the LORD requires from you: to do justice, embrace faithful love, and walk humbly with your God.

Good Morning! Walk humbly with God!

We are sinners, and despite our best intentions, we continue to fall short of perfection. God, our creator, is a loving God and recognizes our human frailty. This does not mean that it is okay to intentionally harm one another and create chaos.

When we accept our Lord and Savior, we are to make our best effort to walk along the path of righteousness. When we fall off the path, we are to humble ourselves and ask for forgiveness. To aid us on our journey, we are to use the means of grace: prayer, Scripture, meditation, communion, and worshiping with others.

As a community of believers, God calls us to do justice, embrace faithful love, and walk humbly with our God. We do this as a group so that we can support and nurture one another in our efforts.

We cannot do this alone. To walk the path of righteousness is hard and not possible without the grace of God. Our God loves us and provides all we need to follow Jesus.

Loving Lord, you bless us abundantly! You are a loving God! Help us to freely embrace your love. Thank you. We love you, Lord! In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen

Thought for the day: Aspire to do justice, embrace God’s love, and walk humbly.

God is always with us! Pastor Liz
