Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room
September 10, 2024
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
1 There’s a season for everything and a time for every matter under the heavens: 2 a time for giving birth and a time for dying, a time for planting and a time for uprooting what was planted, 3 a time for killing and a time for healing, a time for tearing down and a time for building up, 4 a time for crying and a time for laughing, a time for mourning and a time for dancing, 5 a time for throwing stones and a time for gathering stones, a time for embracing and a time for avoiding embraces, 6 a time for searching and a time for losing, a time for keeping and a time for throwing away, 7 a time for tearing and a time for repairing, a time for keeping silent and a time for speaking, 8 a time for loving and a time for hating, a time for war and a time for peace.
Good Morning! Look to the heavens and rejoice!
As I prepare to say my goodbyes to another friend this year, I thank God for the blessings of knowing him. Each person we encounter on our journey is part of God’s plan. I believe there is a season and time for every facet of our lives.
As one season ends, another begins, and with that transition comes the passing of the torch. When one of us is called home to glory, others must be ready to pick up the torch and lead the way. Christ is our eternal flame that stands strong, never wavering, so all may find their footing on our faith journeys.
Thanks be to God for providing those mentors and friends who prepare us for the next season. Moses led the Israelites through the most significant challenges of their lives, and when it came time to cross to the next season, it was time for Moses to let them go forward without him.
God does not leave us to flounder in the darkness but calls us to look to the dawn of a new day. There is a season for everything and a time for every matter under the heavens.
Faithful God, Thank you for creating us. When we find ourselves slipping into the darkness, you provide light to lead us forward. Thank you! In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen
Thought for the day: Give thanks for all things, for they are God-given gifts!
Follow the light that glimmers in the darkness! Pastor Liz
