Read Jeremiah 29:10-14
10 The LORD proclaims: When Babylon’s seventy years are up, I will come and fulfill my gracious promise to bring you back to this place. 11 I know the plans I have in mind for you, declares the LORD; they are plans for peace, not disaster, to give you a future filled with hope. 12 When you call me and come and pray to me, I will listen to you. 13 When you search for me, yes, search for me with all your heart, you will find me. 14 I will be present for you, declares the LORD, and I will end your captivity. I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have scattered you, and I will bring you home after your long exile, declares the LORD.
Good Morning! I will be present for you, declares the Lord.
God has a plan for us, his children, a plan for peace with a future filled with hope. It is often hard to imagine living our lives in a different place or time.
For me, I have made choices that have required moving on a regular basis. As a military family change was an accepted part of the plan. We were young and so busy that we barely had time to really notice that where we lived had changed. As I look back at those days, I realize that except for our last duty station, we had few friends. We had each other and we were a happy family, but our lives were quite rudimentary. Our work hours and family obligations left little time for anything else including going to church. This all changed when we moved to Virginia and God called us back to church.
When Lowell answered his calling to become a pastor, we again prepared for the series of moves that would be part of our lives. Each appointment and each move provided us with great blessings. Moving days have always been a mixed bag of emotions. We were sad to leave our church families behind, we were anxious about the physical part of the move, and we were excited to consider the possibilities of meeting new people and discovering our new home. With God as the center of our lives, we knew that each move was part of God’s plan for our family.
I would love to say that this process of change gets easier, but it does not. My recent move away from my church family that supported me during my most challenging days was so hard. I believe that I am following God’s plan for my life, and I am joyfully sharing my ministry with my new church families. I have entrusted my life to God and I will continue to serve my Lord and Savior with love in my heart, mind, and soul.
Loving God, Thank You for loving us. You provide us with opportunities to serve you as we live our lives. Help us to accept your calling willingly to share your word with the world. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen
Thought for the day: Change is part of God’s good plan for my life.
Trust God and be blessed! Pastor Liz
