Morning Devotional 100523 Breathe and Rejoice

Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room

October 5, 2023

2 Corinthians 4:16-18

16 So we aren’t depressed. But even if our bodies are breaking down on the outside, the person that we are on the inside is being renewed every day. 17 Our temporary minor problems are producing an eternal stockpile of glory for us that is beyond all comparison. 18 We don’t focus on the things that can be seen but on the things that can’t be seen. The things that can be seen don’t last, but the things that can’t be seen are eternal.

Good Morning. Focus on what is good in your life!

Most of us have days when all we can see are the problems in our lives, but Paul reminds us that this is not where we should focus. We should focus on our eternal glory. This is easier said than done, but we can change our focus. Each day is a new day filled with new opportunities. Take a moment and breathe in the calmness that God offers. Linger with the peace that fills you. As you exhale, let go of your worries.

Start each day with God! When you wake up, say, “Thank you, God!” As you go through your morning routine, continue to thank God for your blessings. In this way, you shift your focus to God and what is good. For those challenges that await you, say a prayer and ask God to guide you. Give your worries to Jesus and find the peace that is being offered to you.

Caring God, We love you! Nudge us when we forget to start our day with you. You are waiting to lead and bless us in all that we do. Thank you. In the name of Christ, we pray. Amen

Thought for the day: Through the Holy Spirit, each day is an opportunity for a restart.

Breathe and let the Holy Spirit fill you with hope! Pastor Liz
