Morning Devotional 102621 Are You Ready for the Storms?

Liz’s Morning Devotional based upon Upper Room

1 “Don’t be troubled. Trust in God. Trust also in me. 2 My Father’s house has room to spare. If that weren’t the case, would I have told you that I’m going to prepare a place for you? 3 When I go to prepare a place for you, I will return and take you to be with me so that where I am you will be too. 4 You know the way to the place I’m going.” 5 Thomas asked, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going. How can we know the way?” 6 Jesus answered, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you have really known me, you will also know the Father. From now on you know him and have seen him.”

Good Morning! Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life.

Through the storms, through the night, lead me on to the light, take my hand, precious Lord, lead me home. What a storm we had last night! Despite the rumbles of thunder and the flashes of lightning, I felt safe in the arms of my loving Savior.

During each of our lives, we are likely to experience spiritual and emotional storms every bit as turbulent as the physical storms like we had last night. Sometimes the storms frighten us, even cause us to shake and question our very existence. You might ask, “How in the world can I survive?” As Christians, Jesus is there to take us by the hand and lead us through the storm.

No one can predict what challenges lie in their future, so we must prepare ourselves by spending daily time with God through which we develop a relationship with our Lord. As we mature in our love for God, we grow in trust that with God everything will be okay. After months of watching my mom retreat from us further and further due to Alzheimer’s, I remember one day about a month before her passing. When my well-thought out plan to arrange care for her fell apart at the last minute, she looked at me and said, “everything is going to be okay.” For the first time in months, her voice was strong and clear and sounded like mom. I know that God was with her and she had seen her eternal home that was just around the corner.

Trust God! God is with us always! Through the storms, through the night, lead me on to the light, take my hand, precious Lord, lead me home.

Loving God, Thank You for loving us. How can we ever thank you enough? May we learn to trust fully in you as we encounter the storms in our lives. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen

Thought for the day: God is with us to lead us through the storms of our lives.

Everything is going to be okay! Pastor Liz
