Read Psalm 103:1-5
1 Let my whole being bless the LORD! Let everything inside me bless his holy name! 2 Let my whole being bless the LORD and never forget all his good deeds: 3 how God forgives all your sins, heals all your sickness, 4 saves your life from the pit, crowns you with faithful love and compassion, 5 and satisfies you with plenty of good things so that your youth is made fresh like an eagle’s
Good Morning! Bless the Lord of my Soul!
Love God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength. This is a tremendous task for us sinners. It takes years for even the best among us to come close. For me, at this time in my journey, I have more successes than I do failures in following the greatest commandment. However, I admit that I have momentary lapses when I lose my focus and start seeing the world through the eyes of a cynic.
This past Sunday we examined where we were on our journey as we read the story of the scribe who was told that he was not far from the kingdom of God. We learned that the joy of being a believer filled the scribe. How can we not be joyful when we consider the love of God for us? God loved us so much that he sent Jesus to bear our sins, so that we might have eternal life.
The magnitude of God’s love cannot be measured in earthly value. Accept the challenge to be the embodiment of Christ to the world as you share God’s love and mercy with all. When you feel yourself losing focus on the love, remember to whom you belong and allow the Holy Spirit within you to redirect your heart, soul, mind, and strength to loving God and loving your neighbor.
Loving God, Thank You for loving us. We love you, Lord, even when we seem to wander off of our paths to you. Thanks for calling us back. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen
Thought for the day: Praising God can renew my spirit and give me strength.
Praise the Lord! Pastor Liz
