Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room

November 22, 2025

Psalm 147:1-3

1 Praise the LORD! Because it is good to sing praise to our God! Because it is a pleasure to make beautiful praise! 2 The LORD rebuilds Jerusalem, gathering up Israel’s exiles. 3 God heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds.

Good Morning! Sing praise to God who reigns above!

God heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds. Each of us has seasons of suffering. In Ecclesiastes 3, we read, There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: 2 a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, 3 a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, 4 a time to weep and a time to laugh a time to mourn and a time to dance, 5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,  a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing, 6 a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, 7 a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, 8 a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.

It would be easier if we only experienced the “positive” event in each verse: born, plant, heal, build, laugh, dance, gather, embrace, search, keep, mend, speak, love, and peace. The opposites of each of these are hard, but without them, we minimize the value of God’s blessings. The time to laugh that follows the sorrow provides immeasurable healing.

My greatest concern is for those who live in darkness without God. I can’t imagine enduring or persevering without my relationship with God. Without the hope of a new tomorrow, I fear that I would become stuck in one season and never move into the promise of God’s love, mercy, and peace.

This is why we are called to gather in the lost souls who are wandering in the darkness. May we work to find and lead all God’s children into the light.

Lord, you bless us abundantly! Help us, O Lord, to answer the great commission to go and make disciples in Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. Thank you. We love you, Lord! In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen

Thought for the day: Without God, we would be living in darkness.

Celebrate God’s love and mercy! Pastor Liz
