Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room
January 11, 2024
Colossians 3:12-17
12 Therefore, as God’s choice, holy and loved, put on compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. 13 Be tolerant with each other and, if someone has a complaint against anyone, forgive each other. As the Lord forgave you, so also forgive each other. 14 And over all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity. 15 The peace of Christ must control your hearts—a peace into which you were called in one body. And be thankful people. 16 The word of Christ must live in you richly. Teach and warn each other with all wisdom by singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. Sing to God with gratitude in your hearts. 17 Whatever you do, whether in speech or action, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus and give thanks to God the Father through him.
Good Morning! Allow the peace of Christ to control your heart!
Love is the goo that ties together all that we are. We start with God loving us, and we slowly learn to join in a relationship with God. As our love of God grows, we feel moved to share this love with others. The more we share, the more our love grows.
Love presents itself in all that Christ taught us: compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Without love, these are just words. With love, they lead us to the peace of Christ into which we are called.
When we allow love to be the binding agent that fills in all the nooks and crannies, we will find the joy that living in Christ offers. Love and be loved!
Gracious God, Thank you for this beautiful gift of life. Love! It’s such a simple word, but we struggle to embrace its meaning and power. Help us share your love. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen
Thought for the day: Start with Love, keep love in the middle, and end with love.
Love one another! Pastor Liz
