Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room
February 18, 2026
Isaiah 43:18-21
18 Don’t remember the prior things; don’t ponder ancient history. 19 Look! I’m doing a new thing; now it sprouts up; don’t you recognize it? I’m making a way in the desert, paths in the wilderness. 20 The beasts of the field, the jackals and ostriches, will honor me, because I have put water in the desert and streams in the wilderness to give water to my people, my chosen ones, 21 this people whom I formed for myself, who will recount my praise.
Good Morning! We are God’s chosen ones!
When we accept Christ as our Lord and Savior, we are born into a new life. We are called to leave our old ways behind.
Whatever things that darken our past, by God’s grace, they are removed. The challenge for us is to let them go, to forgive ourselves. God wipes our slate clean, but we have to choose to let them be washed away from our being. By forgiving us of our sins, we are set free.
God calls us and sets us apart to love and serve one another. Sometimes, we stray from our path, but God is always there to lead us back.
Despite our sinful pasts, God invites us to walk away from our past, and join together with Jesus on a path of righteousness. Praise be to God.
God of Wisdom, you bless us abundantly! We struggle to accept your complete forgiveness. On this day of remembrance of your love, teach us to let go. Thank you. We love you. In Christ’s name we pray, Amen.
Thought for the day: God invites us to release the past and embrace the present.
God sets us free to embrace the joy of life! Pastor Liz
