Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room
Feb. 25, 2025
Psalm 145:14-21
14 The Lord supports all who fall down, straightens up all who are bent low. 15 All eyes look to you, hoping, and you give them their food right on time, 16 opening your hand and satisfying the desire of every living thing. 17 The Lord is righteous in all his ways, faithful in all his deeds. 18 The Lord is close to everyone who calls out to him, to all who call out to him sincerely. 19 God shows favor to those who honor him, listening to their cries for help and saving them. 20 The Lord protects all who love him, but he destroys every wicked person. 21 My mouth will proclaim the Lord’s praise, and every living thing will bless God’s holy name forever and always.
Good Morning. Blessed be the Lord!
The Lord is close to everyone who calls out to him!
God blesses us with free will, which enables us to make decisions and choices, both good and bad. Our good choices lead us to blessings, but often, our poor choices lead us to despair. The other aspect is the good and bad choices of others also play a role in our lives.
An example of this might be a car accident. You do everything correctly, and yet someone runs into your car. The results of car accidents range from fender benders to serious injuries or even the death of one of the people involved.
God does not cause car accidents, but God helps us work through the challenges that follow our accidents, no matter who or what the cause is. Verse 14 of today’s passage, The Lord supports all who fall down, straightens up all who are bent low, reminds us of God’s continual presence in our lives.
We do fall down, and we are bent low, whether physically, mentally, emotionally, or spiritually. God is always available to listen, save, and protect us.
Praise be to God who saves us!
Loving Lord, Maker of all things! You love us! Thank you for blessing us in all things. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen
Thought for the day: God is always with us!
Rejoice, Pray, and Give Thanks! Pastor Liz
