Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room
Feb. 27, 2025
Psalm 100:1-5
1 Shout triumphantly to the LORD, all the earth! 2 Serve the LORD with celebration! Come before him with shouts of joy! 3 Know that the LORD is God he made us; we belong to him. We are his people, the sheep of his own pasture. 4 Enter his gates with thanks; enter his courtyards with praise! Thank him! Bless his name! 5 Because the LORD is good, his loyal love lasts forever; his faithfulness lasts generation after generation.
Good Morning. Enter his courtyards with praise!
We, God’s children, are funny! Think about how you react when you receive news. Some are stoic, no matter whether the news is good or bad! Others have extreme reactions. With good news, they scream and shout with joy; with bad news, they scream and shout with anguish. Most of us probably fall somewhere in the middle of this.
I tend to wear my emotions on my sleeve, and I’ve never had a good poker face. Even when I hold in my words of opinion, my face gives away my feelings.
Here is the interesting side of this. How do you praise God! Many of those filling the pews in churches are rather subdued with their emotions in church. Think about this: the gift of salvation given to us is the greatest gift we will ever receive, yet we sit politely in church without any type of acclamation.
It is okay to be emotional in church. We might be moved to tears or shouts of joy. Don’t hold it in! Shout triumphantly to the Lord! Oh Lord, my God, when I in awesome wonder. . . and there proclaim “My God, how great thou art!”
Loving Lord, Maker of all things! You love us! Help us fully embrace the gift you give us! In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen
Thought for the day: Praise God without inhibitions.
Let it out! Shout God’s praise! Pastor Liz
