Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room
April 8, 2026
Colossians 3:12-17
12 Therefore, as God’s choice, holy and loved, put on compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. 13 Be tolerant with each other and, if someone has a complaint against anyone, forgive each other. As the Lord forgave you, so also forgive each other. 14 And over all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity. 15 The peace of Christ must control your hearts—a peace into which you were called in one body. And be thankful people. 16 The word of Christ must live in you richly. Teach and warn each other with all wisdom by singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. Sing to God with gratitude in your hearts. 17 Whatever you do, whether in speech or action, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus and give thanks to God the Father through him.
Good Morning! God loves us and offers us peace!
To follow Christ requires action on our part. By God’s grace, all that Christ offers: love, peace, hope, and joy, are available to us, but Christ will never force them upon us. First, we must invite Christ into our hearts and release control to Christ. With peace in our hearts, we can allow it to envelop our entire beings.
Next, we may choose to put on compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. These are qualities that we can use to settle our own feelings and share with others. When we feel frustrated, we can draw on the patience that awaits us.
None of this is possible without God’s love. This comes first. Because God first loved us, we can love God and one another. This love is the foundation for our entire being. When we start with God’s love, all things are possible.
God of Wisdom, you bless us abundantly! You sent your son to save us. Thank you. We love you. In Christ’s name we pray, Amen.
Thought for the day: Reach out to others in kindness!
Love one another! Pastor Liz
