Morning Devotional 042622 Release Your Worries!

Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room

April 26, 2022

Read Matthew 11:25-30

25 At that time Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you’ve hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and have shown them to babies. 26 Indeed, Father, this brings you happiness. 27 “My Father has handed all things over to me. No one knows the Son except the Father. And nobody knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son wants to reveal him. 28 “Come to me, all you who are struggling hard and carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest. 29 Put on my yoke and learn from me. I’m gentle and humble. And you will find rest for yourselves. 30 My yoke is easy to bear, and my burden is light.”

Good Morning, Jesus says, “Come unto me, my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, soul, and mind! When we fully trust in Jesus, we can turn our worries and our anxieties to Him. I must admit that I am still working on this. For most things, I willingly turn them over to Jesus. Yet, I still have the need to take control of things that are not mine to control.

I purposely and willfully say in my prayers that I give this worry over to Jesus, and for a little while I feel peace. Then, I feel the urge to take back my worry nudging me to take action. I keep pushing it to Jesus and it keeps poking me to respond. I know that only through true trust can I find the peace that Jesus promises.

I’m guessing that others have this same affliction because as humans we seem to like to worry and mess with things. Even when everything appears to be okay, we like to continue to “stir the pot”. Our source of comfort is Jesus and we must remember that we are works in progress: God isn’t finished with us yet! Finally, God accepts us as we are, despite our afflictions, and promises to be by our side forever.

I leave you with peace on this beautiful morning that the Lord has made. May the love of God, the peace of Jesus Christ, and the ongoing presence of the Holy Spirit be within you and among you today and always.

Loving and Gracious God, Thank You for loving us. Help us learn to trust in You so that we may find Your peace. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen

Thought for the day: Jesus is the only way to true peace.

Trust God! Pastor Liz
