Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room

  May 3, 2025

Psalm 18:1-6

1 He said: I love you, LORD, my strength. 2 The LORD is my solid rock, my fortress, my rescuer. My God is my rock I take refuge in him! he’s my shield, my salvation’s strength, my place of safety. 3 Because he is praiseworthy, I cried out to the LORD, and I was saved from my enemies. 4 Death’s cords were wrapped around me; rivers of wickedness terrified me. 5 The cords of the grave surrounded me; death’s traps held me tight. 6 In my distress I cried out to the LORD; I called to my God for help. God heard my voice from his temple; I called to him for help, and my call reached his ears.

Good Morning. God is our place of safety!

Life is full of challenges. We all have times when we feel fearful and unsafe. In these times, we have a tendency to shut down and become unresponsive. God is waiting to support us in all things. I have verses that I use to calm myself in such times.

Isaiah 41:10-11 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

“Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength” (Nehemiah 8:10, ESV). And that joy becomes the foundation of our strength. The world we live in can be challenging and draining. We face trials, temptations, and hardships that can easily weaken our resolve.

You know that I celebrate the joy of the Lord in all things! I believe that joy is a choice that is available to all. Choose joy and live life to the fullest.

Loving Lord, Maker of all things! Without You, we cannot survive. Thank you for loving us! Thank you. We love you, Lord! In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen

Thought for the day: God loves me and understands me, especially on my bad days.

Fear not, God is with us! Pastor Liz
