Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room
May 11, 2022
Read Luke 15:8-10
8 “Or what woman, if she owns ten silver coins and loses one of them, won’t light a lamp and sweep the house, searching her home carefully until she finds it? 9 When she finds it, she calls together her friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Celebrate with me because I’ve found my lost coin.’ 10 In the same way, I tell you, joy breaks out in the presence of God’s angels over one sinner who changes both heart and life.”
Good Morning, I once was lost, but now I’m found.
As most of you know, I love celebrating the joy that God brings to my life. As I considered the source of my joy, this wonderful quote popped into my mind. “For behold, I bring you tidings of great joy which shall be to all people... and on earth peace, goodwill toward men. That's what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown!” Perhaps Lowell was speaking through me a bit this morning.
Yes, God is there to comfort us in our times of need, but God celebrates each moment of joy with us as well. When we accept Christ as our Lord and Savior, we are filled with great JOY. The joy of the Lord which is our strength. This joy sustains us through our trials and challenges and bubbles up inside us when we serve our Lord as we love one another.
Call out to all those you meet to celebrate the joy of serving a risen Savior. We are a resurrection people. Praise be to God!
In our sometimes dark and dreary world, it is easy to find all that is wrong with the world. I challenge you to accept the harder, yet much more blessed opportunity to look for what is good as you seek joy.
Loving and Gracious God, Thank You for loving us. Sometimes we become consumed by the darkness around us. Help us to focus on the light and bring others to You so that the light grows and we celebrate the joy. In Jesus' name, we pray, Amen.
Thought for the day: How can I share in someone’s joy today?
Seek Joy! Pastor Liz
