Morning Devotional 051522 Skipping and Giggling

Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room

May 14, 2022

Read Psalm 116:1-9

1 I love the LORD because he hears my requests for mercy. 2 I’ll call out to him as long as I live, because he listens closely to me. 3 Death’s ropes bound me; the distress of the grave found me I came face-to-face with trouble and grief. 4 So I called on the LORD’s name: “LORD, please save me!” 5 The LORD is merciful and righteous; our God is compassionate. 6 The LORD protects simple folk; he saves me whenever I am brought down. 7 I tell myself, You can be at peace again, because the LORD has been good to you. 8 You, God, have delivered me from death, my eyes from tears, and my foot from stumbling, 9 so I’ll walk before the LORD in the land of the living.

Good Morning, Let us walk before the LORD in the land of the living.

Christ conquered death through his resurrection. Those who chose to believe and follow Him will live again. Death has no hold over us. This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. Hallelujah.

I love the words of verse 9: I’ll walk before the Lord in the land of the living. What does that mean for us today, right here, right now? It means that we must celebrate this gift of eternal life by walking and serving God with joy, peace, and love in our hearts. We are the simple folk lifted up in verse 6. No matter what adversities we face, we can be at peace in the knowledge that we are protected.

Whenever you feel yourself focusing on the bad, give that problem to God, and focus on the good. Think of the happiest day in your life! Now set that as your standard for everyday living. Imagine skipping and giggling without a care in the world. Let go of your worries, give them to Christ, and you will be filled with peace. No matter what, our Lord is with us to see us through our storms.

It’s not a question of whether we will face adversity, it’s an understanding that no matter how great our earthly problems are, we will never be alone. As believers, we are enveloped by God our creator, Christ our Lord, and the Holy Spirit working within us. Amen!

Stand up and Bless the Lord! God has chosen us. Praise God with all our hearts, soul, and strength!

Loving and Gracious God, Thank You for loving us. Wow! May we truly embrace the wondrous gift that You have given to us. Thank You. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen

Thought for the day: God is faithful no matter what challenges I face.

Join the land of the living! Pastor Liz
