Morning Devotional 061222 Now Is the Time

Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room

June 12, 2022

Read Psalm 33:16-22

16 Kings aren’t saved by the strength of their armies; warriors aren’t rescued by how much power they have. 17 A warhorse is a bad bet for victory; it can’t save despite its great strength. 18 But look here: the LORD’s eyes watch all who honor him, all who wait for his faithful love, 19 to deliver their lives from death and keep them alive during a famine. 20 We put our hope in the LORD. He is our help and our shield. 21 Our heart rejoices in God because we trust his holy name. 22 LORD, let your faithful love surround us because we wait for you.

Good morning! Trust and Obey!

Each living thing was/is/will be created by God. For everything, there is a time and a season. Ecclesiastes 3:1-2 (NLT) For everything there is a season, A time for every activity under heaven. A time to be born and a time to die. A time to plant and a time to harvest.

Each season has its own special characteristics to be cherished. As God’s children, we have times of great sorrow and great joy, abundant life and even death. Regardless of the season, God is with us and promises to see us through our adversities and our blessings.

Each day is an opportunity to take another step towards our endeavor to be the embodiment of Christ for the world. We must embrace the privilege and opportunity to save one soul in the name of our Lord and Savior.

Jesus taught of the joy in finding one who is lost in the parables. 5 And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders 6 and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’ 7 I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent. Luke 15:5-7 NIV

Whatever the season, we are called to gather disciples so that all may join at the heavenly feast. The song lyrics below are an amazing song by Bryan McFarland’s Until All Are Fed that remind us that our call to service cannot end until all have been found. It is not enough to talk about doing, we must engage in doing. Christians are called to lead the parade, not stand on the sidewalks.

  1. How long will we sing? How long will we pray? How long will we write and send? How long will we bring? How long will we stay? How long will we make amends?

Refrain: Until all are fed we cry out; until all on earth have bread. Like the One who loves us each and everyone we serve until all are fed.

  1. How long will we talk? How long will we prod? How must we fret and hoard? How long will we walk to tear down the facade? How long, how long, O Lord? Refrain

  2. How can we stand by and fail to be aghast? How long till we do what‘s right? How can we stand by and choose a lesser fast? How long till we see the light? Refrain

  3. On the green, green grass they gathered long ago to hear what the Master said. What they had they shared, some fishes and some loaves, they served until all were fed. Refrain

Loving and Gracious God, Thank You for loving us. We sometimes get stuck and think we’ve done enough. Help us to continue until all are fed. Thank you. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen

Thought for the day: In any season, I will wait with hope on the Lord as I continue to serve.
