Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room

March 11, 2026

Psalm 8:1-9

1 LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name throughout the earth! You made your glory higher than heaven! 2 From the mouths of nursing babies you have laid a strong foundation because of your foes, in order to stop vengeful enemies. 3 When I look up at your skies, at what your fingers made the moon and the stars that you set firmly in place 4 what are human beings that you think about them; what are human beings that you pay attention to them? 5 You’ve made them only slightly less than divine, crowning them with glory and grandeur. 6 You’ve let them rule over your handiwork, putting everything under their feet 7 all sheep and all cattle, the wild animals too, 8 the birds in the sky, the fish of the ocean, everything that travels the pathways of the sea. 9 LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name throughout the earth!

Good Morning, How majestic is the name of the Lord throughout the earth!

What a wonderful verse to frame the beautiful morning sky. We started with lots of pinks, and now the pinks have emerged as soft peach streaks among the greys and blues. The spring flowers are starting to bloom and the trees are budding. God’s handiwork is evident everywhere I look.

I know that the God who creates such beauty is the master designer of my life. God leads us to places of beauty and calls us to care for all the earth. It is amazing that God, who has such awesome power, takes time to listen to our prayers and sit with us in times of sorrow.

We, God’s children, are blessed beyond measure, and there is nothing that we can do to earn God’s attention and blessings. God offers these gifts to all who listen to the call of Jesus to come and see.

Our God is an awesome God

Who reigns from heaven above

With wisdom, power, and grace

Our God is an awesome God.

God of Wisdom, you bless us abundantly! We are not worthy, yet by your grace, you love and care for us. We love you. In Christ’s name we pray, Amen.

Thought for the day: Jesus connects us in a relationship with God.

God blesses us every moment of every day! Pastor Liz
