Morning Devotional 062822 Embrace Your Joy

Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room

June 28, 2022

Read Philipians 4:4-9

4 Be glad in the Lord always! Again I say, be glad! 5 Let your gentleness show in your treatment of all people. The Lord is near. 6 Don’t be anxious about anything; rather, bring up all of your requests to God in your prayers and petitions, along with giving thanks. 7 Then the peace of God that exceeds all understanding will keep your hearts and minds safe in Christ Jesus. 8 From now on, brothers and sisters, if anything is excellent and if anything is admirable, focus your thoughts on these things: all that is true, all that is holy, all that is just, all that is pure, all that is lovely, and all that is worthy of praise. 9 Practice these things: whatever you learned, received, heard, or saw in us. The God of peace will be with you.

Good morning! Again I Say REJOICE!

I apologize for posting later today, but with the craziness of my move yesterday, I left my computer at my townhouse. Let me start by saying I’m tired, but full of joy. What a perfect passage to lift my spirits so that I can embrace the unpacking chores. It’s funny how it's the simple things that you find when unpacking that make you so happy.

I give all my thanks to God and shout Hallelujah! God promises the peace that passes all understanding when we turn over our worries in our prayers. Paul also reminds us to focus on what is good. No matter what else is happening around us. When our foundation remains steadfast with the grace, mercy, love, and joy of Christ, the troubles of this earth are unimportant. Whatever is causing us worry, Christ tells us to give it to God. Here is a little secret about this, once you turn it over to God, don’t take it back. Trust that God will take care of you as you focus on the teachings of Jesus.

It is day two of a crazy week, but I continue to find time to spend with God. Our God welcomes us wherever and whenever we speak. Praise Be to God! I’ve turned over the worrisome parts of the new changes and worries in my life! Now I’m ready to go where God is leading me and serve with joy founded in the love of Christ.

Loving and Gracious God, Thank You for loving us. Praise to you our Creator! You bless us beyond our own understanding. Thank You. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen

Thought for the day: Even in difficult times, God is faithful to bring me joy.

Live Joyfully! Pastor Liz
