Morning Devotional 061426

Passage selected from today’s Upper Room Verses

2 Corinthians 4:7-12

⁷ But we have this treasure in clay pots so that the awesome power belongs to God and doesn’t come from us. ⁸ We are experiencing all kinds of trouble, but we aren’t crushed. We are confused, but we aren’t depressed. ⁹ We are harassed, but we aren’t abandoned. We are knocked down, but we aren’t knocked out. ¹⁰ We always carry Jesus’ death around in our bodies so that Jesus’ life can also be seen in our bodies. ¹¹ We who are alive are always being handed over to death for Jesus’ sake so that Jesus’ life can also be seen in our bodies that are dying. ¹² So death is at work in us, but life is at work in you.  

Good Morning, Through Christ we live!

⁷ But we have this treasure in clay pots so that the awesome power belongs to God and doesn’t come from us.

No matter what! My children had a set of Playschool figures with rounded bottoms. The big advertisement tag line said, “Weebles wobble, but they don’t fall down.” 

With Christ, we are able to withstand everything that is thrown at us, and we don’t fall down. When the wind becomes too strong for us to endure, we lean into Christ. Christ promises that he will always be with us. We joyfully sing, “Because He lives, I can face tomorrow. Because He lives, all fear is gone!” 

These are more than great song lyrics, they comprise our foundation that stands strong despite our earthly challenges. No matter what, Christ will never leave us! Even when we make poor choices, Christ is with us to help us find our way out of the mess we created. All we have to do is confess our sin and proclaim Christ as Lord and Savior.

God of Wind and Flame, you bless us abundantly! Without You, we are weak sinners. With you, we are redeemed and all things are possible. Thank you. We love you. In Christ’s name we pray, Amen.
