Morning Devotional 072621 Flying with Eagles

Liz’s Morning Devotional based upon Upper Room

July 26, 2021

Read Isaiah 40:28-31

28 Don’t you know? Haven’t you heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the creator of the ends of the earth. He doesn’t grow tired or weary. His understanding is beyond human reach, 29 giving power to the tired and reviving the exhausted. 30 Youths will become tired and weary, young men will certainly stumble; 31 but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength; they will fly up on wings like eagles; they will run and not be tired; they will walk and not be weary.

Good Morning! Fly on eagle’s wings!

As most of you know, I tend to go at full speed most of the time. Despite that daily regime, these first days of my theme park vacation have worn me out physically. Each morning I wake up ready to take on another day of heat, crowds, and rides knowing that by the end of the day I will be exhausted. So you might be saying, slow down, you’re on vacation, but I tell you that the special time with family through which we are making wonderful memories is worth my effort.

A few days ago we looked at the need for rest and quiet time to reflect and talk to God. For me, this is when I feel the Lord renewing my strength and revitalizing my hope. God’s power is never-ending, never wavering, and He will always be there to support us. Before Christ chose to give up His life for us, He told us to Come unto me, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28 Through Christ’s death and resurrection we are freed of our burdens which allows us to soar upon the wings of eagles.

These verses also remind us that we must be willing to fully give ourselves to God. Even when we are young and strong, we need God’s strength and power. Each of us faces mountains or oceans that we can’t climb or cross on our own. Only with God in our lives can we hope for the joys that eternal life will bring.

Loving God, Thank You for loving us. Help us remember that there is no mountain too high when we place our lives in Your hands. If only we can learn to trust in You! You are with us always waiting patiently and expectantly for us to call, O Lord, I need you. Thank you for always being ready. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen

Thought for the day: No hill is too steep when God walks with me.

God is Good! All the Time! Pastor Liz
