Morning Devotional 083121 Breathe on Me, Breath of God

Liz’s Morning Devotional based upon Upper Room

August 31, 2021

Read Job 12:7-10

7 But ask Behemoth, and he will teach you, the birds in the sky, and they will tell you; 8 or talk to earth, and it will teach you; the fish of the sea will recount it for you. 9 Among all these, who hasn’t known that the LORD’s hand did this? 10 In whose grasp is the life of every thing, the breath of every person?

Good Morning! Rejoice in the Lord Always!

Most of you know that going outside in the early morning and bathing in glorious nature created by our God is my special time. Over this past year, this ritual became my time to share my sorrows with God and receive healing. I watch as God paints the sky. I listen as the birds sing God’s praises. I feel the Holy Spirit moving in me as a response to the touch of the air as I walk.

When we take time to consider the wonders of our world, we can take comfort knowing that God is with us always. God is closer than the breath we breathe. No matter what troubles we encounter, God is waiting to lead us, and even carry us, until we can take our next step. We are never alone when we accept our Lord.

One of my favorite verses is Isaiah 49:16: See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands. We write things on our hands so that we don’t forget, but overtime the ink becomes blurred or washes away. When we engrave something, it is there forever, just as our Lord is by our side forever.

Loving God, Thank You for loving us. You breathed into each living creature to give life. We thank you for blessing us with a beautiful earth upon which we live. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen

Thought for the day: When I am hurting, God offers healing in unexpected ways.

Embrace God around you! Pastor Liz
