Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room
September 1, 2022
Read: Romans 8:35-39
35 Who will separate us from Christ’s love? Will we be separated by trouble, or distress, or harassment, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? 36 As it is written, We are being put to death all day long for your sake. We are treated like sheep for slaughter. 37 But in all these things we win a sweeping victory through the one who loved us. 38 I’m convinced that nothing can separate us from God’s love in Christ Jesus our Lord: not death or life, not angels or rulers, not present things or future things, not powers 39 or height or depth, or any other thing that is created.
Good morning! Nothing can separate us from God’s love in Christ Jesus our Lord!
The Petry family is gathering today to celebrate Joyce Petry’s life. For those who believe in Christ this is a great day as Joyce begins her new life with Christ. Thanks be to God!
God does not promise to remove our challenges, but God promises through Jesus that we will never be alone and that nothing can separate us from God. Through Christ’s death and resurrection we came to understand that not God’s power and mercy conquers death as we continue our relationship with the body of believers.
No matter what our current day sufferings, they do not compare to the future glory that awaits all who claim Christ as their Lord and Savior. God loves us and provides for us everything that we need to fill our lives with peace, love, and joy. When we surrender ourselves to God, we are filled with the Holy Spirit and our transformation into the being that God sees within us begins. We must learn to let go and allow this work to happen.
Gracious God, Thank You for loving us. You are always here. No matter what troubles we initiate, or troubles that others place upon us, You are with us. You provide for our needs. Thank You. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen
Thought for the day: In all things I will give thanks to the Lord Jesus.
Praise God from whom all blessings flow! Pastor Liz
