Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room
March 2, 2026
Jeremiah 29:11-12
11 I know the plans I have in mind for you, declares the LORD; they are plans for peace, not disaster, to give you a future filled with hope. 12 When you call me and come and pray to me, I will listen to you.
Good Morning, God is always listening!
After all these years of life, I am still amazed by God’s mysterious ways. Those moments when I feel compelled to pick up the phone and call someone, and discover that the person I’m calling is in great need of hearing the voice of a friend. Other times, when I decide to “randomly” go somewhere, and someone, perhaps a stranger, needs the gifts that I have to offer. I didn’t go because I had a purpose, but God had a purpose for me to be there.
I remember my husband and preacher, Lowell, saying that he no longer just believed in miracles; he expected them. God’s hand would intercede when called.
It seems our brains are wired to go to the worst-case scenario first when confronted with challenges. I chuckle when I think of the time I wasted fretting over the awful things that might happen instead of immediately calling on Jesus to lead me through my challenges.
God is always listening. God laughs, cries, and takes every breath with us. It’s up to us to pay attention and embrace God’s love.
God of Wisdom, you bless us abundantly! Oh God! We know you love us, but we forget to come to you first when we are troubled. We love you. In Christ’s name we pray, Amen.
Thought for the day: Listen and go where God leads you. You might be someone’s miracle today.
Breathe and Believe! Pastor Liz
