Morning Devotional 090224 Revive Us, Again

Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room

  September 2, 2024

Psalm 19:7-11

7 The LORD’s Instruction is perfect, reviving one’s very being. The LORD’s laws are faithful, making naive people wise. 8 The LORD’s regulations are right, gladdening the heart. The LORD’s commands are pure, giving light to the eyes. 9 Honoring the LORD is correct, lasting forever. The LORD’s judgments are true. All of these are righteous! 10 They are more desirable than gold than tons of pure gold! They are sweeter than honey even dripping off the honeycomb! 11 No doubt about it: your servant is enlightened by them; there is great reward in keeping them.

Good Morning! Thy word is a lamp unto my feet!

Revivals once filled the summer evenings of many communities. These events were a great way to recapture your energy and revive your faith in the Lord. Sadly, attendance began to drop over time, and many churches stopped planning these events.

What happened? Did we suddenly have less need for renewal and revival? For many, earthly needs began to trump our heavenly ones. It’s hard to remember when our evenings were not filled with “other” things.

Families are stretched thin by extracurricular events that gobble up those evenings of respite and renewal. Long gone are the hours sitting and chatting with friends and neighbors on the patio and watching the fireflies light up the sky.

If you check out the news for even a moment, you realize that we, as a society, need to be saved. Many cry out, “Where is God?” Instead, we should tune our ears and listen to God. God is crying out, “Where are my people?”

Revive us again, fill each heart with thy love.

May each soul be rekindled with fire from above.

Refrain:Hallelujah! Thine the glory, hallelujah! Amen!Hallelujah!

Thine the glory, revive us again.

Faithful God, Thank you for creating us. We get so busy that we forget to spend time reviving our souls. Thank you for not abandoning us when we wander off to pursue earthly things. Thank you! In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen

Thought for the day: The word of the Lord revives our souls.

Spend time with God and Revive your soul!  Pastor Liz
