Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room

Psalm 62:1-8

1 Only in God do I find rest; my salvation comes from him. 2 Only God is my rock and my salvation my stronghold!—I won’t be shaken anymore. 3 How long will all of you attack others; how long will you tear them down as if they were leaning walls or broken-down fences? 4 The only desire of this people is to bring others down low; they delight in deception. With their mouths they bless, but inside they are cursing. Selah 5 Oh, I must find rest in God only, because my hope comes from him! 6 Only God is my rock and my salvation my stronghold!—I will not be shaken. 7 My deliverance and glory depend on God. God is my strong rock. My refuge is in God. 8 All you people: Trust in him at all times! Pour out your hearts before him! God is our refuge! Selah

Good Morning! Jesus is the rock of my salvation!

When I look out at the Blue Ridge Mountains, I see strength and beauty in all directions. I find comfort in the different shapes, sizes, and faces among the peaks that dot our skyline. This mountain range is one of the oldest in the world and dates back over a billion years.

God created the heavens and the earth and also made us in his likeness. God is the rock upon which all things stand. God’s strength is beyond earthly measure. We are small and weak compared to the mountains, yet God gave us dominion over all the living things he created.

God knows our inner beings and gives us strength through the power of the Holy Spirit. In response to God’s gifts, we are to love God with all our hearts, souls, minds, and strength and to love our neighbors as ourselves. God provides for all our needs and asks us to use those provisions to serve the world's needs.

8 All you people: Trust in him at all times! Pour out your hearts before him! God is our refuge!

Faithful God, Thank you for creating us. Without you, we are poor and weak, but with, we are rich and strong. Thank you for blessing us and claiming us as heirs of your kingdom. Thank you! In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen

Thought for the day: We can find strength knowing God is our Rock.

Our salvation is built on the rock of Christ!  Pastor Liz
