Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room
September 15, 2025
John 16:1-7
1 I have said these things to you so that you won’t fall away. 2 They will expel you from the synagogue. The time is coming when those who kill you will think that they are doing a service to God. 3 They will do these things because they don’t know the Father or me. 4 But I have said these things to you so that when their time comes, you will remember that I told you about them. “I didn’t say these things to you from the beginning, because I was with you. 5 But now I go away to the one who sent me. None of you ask me, ‘Where are you going?’ 6 Yet because I have said these things to you, you are filled with sorrow. 7 I assure you that it is better for you that I go away. If I don’t go away, the Companion won’t come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you.
Good Morning! Spirit of God come down!
When Jesus ascended into heaven, the Holy Spirit, our companion, our advocate, came to fill our hearts and souls with the essence of God. It is the Holy Spirit that molds and shapes us into the beings that God intends for our lives.
The Holy Spirit is working constantly to transform us as we sleep, work, eat, and play. When we are ready to step out in the name of Christ, it is the Holy Spirit from which we find our strength.
God blessed us with free will, so even though the Holy Spirit is working within us, it is up to us to embrace the transformation and walk a holy path. We can choose to ignore, fight against it, or walk the other way. It is up to us to decide when it is time to humble ourselves and put on the face of Christ.
We are heirs of Christ! This is our superpower! We can either keep it covered deep within our souls or we can unveil it for the world to see. Some will scoff at our decision to walk the walk, but we are called to proclaim Jesus as our Lord and Savior boldly.
Uncover the child of God that is living within you!
Loving Lord, you bless us abundantly! You provide all we need to show the world your love. Give us the courage to walk the walk of righteousness. Thank you. We love you, Lord! In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen
Thought for the day: With the Spirit as our guide, we can go forward in confidence.
We are heirs of Christ! Pastor Liz
