Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room
October 12, 2024
Psalm 23
1 The LORD is my shepherd. I lack nothing. 2 He lets me rest in grassy meadows; he leads me to restful waters; 3 he keeps me alive. He guides me in proper paths for the sake of his good name. 4 Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I fear no danger because you are with me. Your rod and your staff they protect me. 5 You set a table for me right in front of my enemies. You bathe my head in oil; my cup is so full it spills over! 6 Yes, goodness and faithful love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the LORD’s house as long as I live.
Good Morning! This is the day the Lord has made! Let us rejoice and be glad in it!
This morning, I watched the sky shift colors and dance between reds, purples, yellows, and blues. At one point, the sky seemed to glow along the treeline. Each time I look away, a new canvas lies before me that represents the endless possibilities that this new day brings.
Psalm 23 is often read at funerals. It is not read because it is a psalm of despair or grief but a psalm of hope and comfort. No matter our challenges, God goes before us, walks beside us, and follows us now and forevermore.
God provides for us; we lack nothing. There is a time to rest and a time to go forward. Not every step on our path will be easy, but God is with us. We are not worthy to catch the spillage, but by God’s grace, we are loved and anointed through the Holy Spirit as God’s children.
Dear Lord, We are your children! Thank you for loving and caring for us. Thank you for pursuing us when we get lost. Thank you! In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen
Thought for the day: When we call, God is listening!
God loves us! Pastor Liz

I love this passage! I try to say it everyday, especially in my moments of anxiety. God provides, I have nothing to fear and He blesses me. Amen!
