Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room

October 13, 2025 

Psalm 96:1-11

1 Sing to the LORD a new song! Sing to the LORD, all the earth! 2 Sing to the LORD! Bless his name! Share the news of his saving work every single day! 3 Declare God’s glory among the nations; declare his wondrous works among all people 4 because the LORD is great and so worthy of praise. He is awesome beyond all other gods 5 because all the gods of the nations are just idols, but it is the LORD who created heaven! 6 Greatness and grandeur are in front of him; strength and beauty are in his sanctuary. 7 Give to the LORD, all families of the nations give to the LORD glory and power! 8 Give to the LORD the glory due his name! Bring gifts! Enter his courtyards! 9 Bow down to the LORD in his holy splendor! Tremble before him, all the earth! 10 Tell the nations, “The LORD rules! Yes, he set the world firmly in place; it won’t be shaken. He will judge all people fairly.” 11 Let heaven celebrate! Let the earth rejoice! Let the sea and everything in it roar!

Good Morning! All things bright and beautiful. The Lord God made them all!

Praising God is a great way to start the morning! When you enter the day with a positive mindset, the possibilities are greatly amplified. The morning clouds are moving across the sky as if they are in a hurry to get somewhere. I wonder, “Why are they in such a hurry this morning? From where are they coming? Is something about to happen?”

In a world where hurrying seems to be the modus operandi or order of the day, it is good to take time to sit and watch the sky, to look at the leaves fluttering in the breeze, and to purposefully notice God’s masterpiece of which we are a part. I like to sit and ponder how God created such magnificence: each of us, each plant, and each animal. 

Now I see a layer of pink in the clouds that was not previously visible. Where did that come from? Our God is an awesome God who created us, loves us, guides us, and calls us to love one another. 

Take time to watch the world through the eyes of a child: eyes of wonder and awe.

Loving Lord, you bless us abundantly! O God, you are my God! I thank you for your amazing masterpiece. Thank you for including me in your plan! Thank you. We love you, Lord! In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen
