Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room

  October 22, 2024

Psalm 4:1-8

1 Answer me when I cry out, my righteous God! Set me free from my troubles! Have mercy on me! Listen to my prayer! 2 How long, you people, will my reputation be insulted? How long will you continue to love what is worthless and go after lies? Selah 3 Know this: the LORD takes personal care of the faithful. The LORD will hear me when I cry out to him. 4 So be afraid, and don’t sin! Think hard about it in your bed and weep over it! Selah 5 Bring righteous offerings, and trust the LORD! 6 Many people say, “We can’t find goodness anywhere. The light of your face has left us, LORD!” 7 But you have filled my heart with more joy than when their wheat and wine are everywhere! 8 I will lie down and fall asleep in peace because you alone, LORD, let me live in safety.

Good Morning! Oh, How I love Jesus because He first loved me.

Take advantage of every opportunity to share God’s love and mercy. God promises to guide and protect all who call Jesus Lord and Savior. Where there is darkness, God gives us light! Where there is hatred, God loves all! Where there is injustice, God lifts up the outcasts.

We do not know what tomorrow will bring, but we know God will be with us to lead us. In my early life, my mom said, “Do not pass a fire, to get to a fire.” She meant we must handle each challenge or opportunity as they come. Our small challenges or opportunities might direct us to a new way.

Along our faith journey, we will make decisions. Some will be good, some will cause problems, but all will become part of the mosaic of our lives. God gives us free will, and we are blessed and cursed with the ability to choose. Each of us is unique, and our paths are rarely straight and trouble-free.

Embrace the journey; you will find joy and peace in unexpected places. God loves us and will never leave us. Even when we are lost in the weeds of life or hiding in the deepest caves, God is waiting to bring us home when we are ready.

Dear Lord, We are your children! Even if we try to avoid You, You are with us, patiently waiting for us to call out. Thank you! In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen

Thought for the day: Even amid life’s sudden changes, Jesus offers peace.

Joy and Peace are available to all who call on Jesus! Pastor Liz
