Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room

October 26, 2025

Psalm 13:1-6

1 How long will you forget me, LORD? Forever? How long will you hide your face from me? 2 How long will I be left to my own wits, agony filling my heart? Daily? How long will my enemy keep defeating me? 3 Look at me! Answer me, LORD my God! Restore sight to my eyes! Otherwise, I’ll sleep the sleep of death, 4 and my enemy will say, “I won!” My foes will rejoice over my downfall. 5 But I have trusted in your faithful love. My heart will rejoice in your salvation. 6 Yes, I will sing to the LORD because he has been good to me.

Good Morning! Trust in God’s faithful love.

Our passages this week share a theme of trust. Trust is hard for us. At some point, most have been burned by trusting someone or something, so we become cynical. We can trust to a point, but we can’t go “all in.” We have that old saying playing in our minds, “Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me!”

Because of this, we tread carefully into situations. Even when we feel like we are in the know, we enter with that waiting-for-the-other-shoe-to-drop mentality. This fear can prevent us from opening the door to a wonderful opportunity because we can’t let go of the memories of prior experiences.

God calls us to be bold and to risk failure because God is faithful and loves us. Trusting means letting go of our mountains of worries and no-win scenarios, and walking confidently on our faith journeys. It isn’t easy for us to do, but nothing worth our efforts is ever easy. Hard is Good!

Loving Lord, you bless us abundantly! Trust is so hard for us. Help us let go and allow you to take the lead. Thank you. We love you, Lord! In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen

Thought for the day: God’s love conquers all evil and pain.

Trust God. Pastor Liz
