Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room
November 11, 2025
Matthew 25:37-40
“Then those who are righteous will reply to him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you a drink? 38 When did we see you as a stranger and welcome you, or naked and give you clothes to wear? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ 40 “Then the king will reply to them, ‘I assure you that when you have done it for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you have done it for me.’
Good Morning! Happy Veterans Day
I have been blessed to have known many veterans throughout my life. Many of them are quiet and unassuming in respect to their military life, but when I am with a veteran, I sense I am in the presence of one of God’s special people.
Jesus tells us in John 15:13: Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. No one enters their day wishing to give their life for another, but the understanding that might be required takes a special relationship with God.
I believe that God is with us in all things, but no time is God’s presence closer than when we are in danger. For each military engagement, God is with each person. Whether being called to give or take a life, God is closer than the breath of each one.
Many are called, but few will answer the call to care for the outcasts and the least of these and to secure the freedom of others. Thank you to those who serve in all ways.
Loving Lord, you bless us abundantly! We struggle to give ourselves fully to You. Thank you for your continued guidance. Thank you. We love you, Lord! In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen
Thought for the day: Our military members have a special connection to God.
God bless those who protect us: past, present, and future! Pastor Liz
