Morning Devotional 111223 Wise Ones Seek Christ

Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room

November 12, 2023

Psalm 19:1-10

1 Heaven is declaring God’s glory; the sky is proclaiming his handiwork. 2 One day gushes the news to the next, and one night informs another what needs to be known. 3 Of course, there’s no speech, no words, their voices can’t be heard 4 but their sound extends throughout the world; their words reach the ends of the earth. God has made a tent in heaven for the sun. 5 The sun is like a groom coming out of his honeymoon suite; like a warrior, it thrills at running its course. 6 It rises in one end of the sky; its circuit is complete at the other. Nothing escapes its heat. 7 The LORD’s Instruction is perfect, reviving one’s very being. The LORD’s laws are faithful, making naive people wise. 8 The LORD’s regulations are right, gladdening the heart. The LORD’s commands are pure, giving light to the eyes. 9 Honoring the LORD is correct, lasting forever. The LORD’s judgments are true. All of these are righteous! 10 They are more desirable than gold than tons of pure gold! They are sweeter than honey even dripping off the honeycomb!

Good Morning. Happy Lord’s Day!

Many of you know that I love to watch the sky in the morning as a new day is ushered in. Each day is very unique. God has an infinite palette of colors with which he paints the sky. I am not an artist, but I appreciate the skills and challenges that an artist must manage to capture the moment on canvas. While I see the colors shift as they grow and disappear, I feel the rhythm of the movement in my soul. Being an artist is more than seeing and creating an image; you must engage all your senses.

In Psalm 19, we read that the Lord’s instruction is perfect, reviving one’s very being. By God’s grace, the naive becomes wise, our hearts are warmed, and our eyes are opened. When our very being, our essence, is revived, we are ready to embrace the revelation of God’s power and love. As with an artist, we must envelop ourselves in all God offers us. Only then are we ready to reach out and seek the answers that only God knows.

Heavenly Father, Thank you for loving us. When we are blind, you open our eyes. When we are lost, you find us. Thank you. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

Thought for the day: Jesus will reveal his truth to those who seek it.

Wise ones still seek Christ! Pastor Liz
