Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room
November 13, 2025
2 Chronicles 24:12-14
12 The king and Jehoiada would give it to those in charge of the work on the LORD’s temple who in turn hired masons and carpenters to renovate the LORD’s temple, as well as metalworkers for the iron and bronze to repair the LORD’s temple. 13 The workers labored hard, and the restoration progressed smoothly under their control until they had brought God’s temple back to its original state and reinforced it. 14 As soon as they finished, they brought the remaining money to the king and Jehoiada. They used it to make equipment for the LORD’s temple, including what was used for the service and the entirely burned offerings, pans, and other objects made of gold and silver. As long as Jehoiada lived, the entirely burned offerings were regularly offered in the LORD’s temple.
Good Morning! Take time to be holy!
The king, Jehoash, became the ruler of Judah following the destruction of the first destruction of the temple in Jerusalem. Under the guidance of the priest Jehoiada, the king worked to restore the temple and replace the worship artifacts that had been plundered during their exile. Due to the extensive damage, the restoration process was challenging, but the workers successfully restored the temple in its entirety.
When God sent Jesus to walk among us, Jesus taught us that the temple is not contained in a building, but within him. When he claims that the temple (Building) will be destroyed, and that he will rebuild it in three days, he is referring to his death and resurrection.
Throughout the New Testament, we are taught that the kingdom of God lies within us. Through Christ and the Holy Spirit, we hold the temple of God within us. We, imperfect children of God, are in a constant state of repair and restoration. This daunting task is the purview of the Holy Spirit. Praise be to God! Nothing is impossible with God.
Lord, you bless us abundantly! We are often in a state of disrepair, but you never reject or leave us behind. Thank you. We love you, Lord! In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen
Thought for the day: With God, we are never beyond repair.
Our restoration comes through Christ! Pastor Liz
