Morning Devotional 111724 Sufficient Grace

Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room

  November 17, 2024

Philippians 4:10-13

10 I was very glad in the Lord because now at last you have shown concern for me again. (Of course you were always concerned but had no way to show it.) 11 I’m not saying this because I need anything, for I have learned how to be content in any circumstance. 12 I know the experience of being in need and of having more than enough; I have learned the secret to being content in any and every circumstance, whether full or hungry or whether having plenty or being poor. 13 I can endure all these things through the power of the one who gives me strength.

Good Morning! O Lord, we thank you for another beautiful day!

The weather has changed frequently over the past few weeks. One day, it feels like summer, and the next, it feels like fall's cool, crisp air. According to my walking buddies, a few mornings could even be classified as cold.

These sudden changes have caused some of my spring plants to bloom and grow new growth. When deciding what to wear, I might put on a sweatshirt or shorts, sandals, or fur-lined boots.

Sometimes, our lives are very stable, and we know what to expect each day. Other periods are as changeable as the weather. No matter what, the secret to a happy life is to take things as they come and find contentment in every circumstance.

Paul reminds us that the one constant is God, who is always with us. We are given the power to endure all things by God's grace. Be flexible and focus on that which is good. Enjoy wearing shorts in November; colder days are surely coming.

Dear Lord, We are your children! You bless us and provide for us. May we always take time to praise and thank you. Praise be to God! Thank you! In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen

Thought for the day: God knows what we need and will not leave us wanting.

God’s grace is sufficient! Pastor Liz
