Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room
December 11, 2024
Psalm 104:24-35
24 LORD, you have done so many things! You made them all so wisely! The earth is full of your creations! 25 And then there’s the sea, wide and deep, with its countless creatures living things both small and large. 26 There go the ships on it, and Leviathan, which you made, plays in it! 27 All your creations wait for you to give them their food on time. 28 When you give it to them, they gather it up; when you open your hand, they are filled completely full! 29 But when you hide your face, they are terrified; when you take away their breath, they die and return to dust. 30 When you let loose your breath, they are created, and you make the surface of the ground brand-new again. 31 Let the LORD’s glory last forever! Let the LORD rejoice in all he has made! 32 He has only to look at the earth, and it shakes. God just touches the mountains, and they erupt in smoke. 33 I will sing to the LORD as long as I live; I will sing praises to my God while I’m still alive. 34 Let my praise be pleasing to him; I’m rejoicing in the LORD! 35 Let sinners be wiped clean from the earth; let the wicked be no more. But let my whole béeing bless the LORD! Praise the LORD!
Good Morning! Sing praise to God!
Every day presents opportunities to see God at work in our lives. We are blessed with air to breathe, water to drink, and the sun to warm the earth, but God doesn’t stop there. God blesses us with love, grace, and mercy every moment of every day. Even when we mess up, God is with us to help us pick up the pieces.
Jesus came and taught us to share God’s love, grace, and mercy with all we meet. He commanded us to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength and to love our neighbors as ourselves. Jesus never taught us to love and serve only those who looked or sounded like us.
I love to watch children who don’t know each other come together and play. Even when they don’t speak the same language, they communicate and come together without regard to their differences. Somewhere along our journey, we lose that ability to take joy in finding someone with whom to spend time. It’s as if we need a resumé before we can let ourselves enjoy the company of others.
Take joy in every moment. The person who sits across from you is waiting to share their unique story with you. Listen and be blessed.
Loving Lord, We are your children! You created beautiful beings full of potential. Help us relax and enjoy the company of others. Thank you! In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen
Thought for the day: Be present in the moments God gives us!
Jesus loves us all! Pastor Liz
