Liz’s Morning Devotional based upon Upper Room
December 25, 2021
Read Luke 2:4-7
4 Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, 5 to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child. 6 So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered. 7 And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger because there was no room for them in the inn.
Good Morning! For Unto Us a Child Is Born!
Take time to praise God for his gift. Enjoy your time with loved ones and allow the joy of the birth to lift your spirits. Some years we are in a wonderful place in our lives when all seems to be right with the world. Other years, we are in the midst of challenges as Christmas arrives.
Christmas allows us to grab hold of the miracle as we offered the gift once again. It is up to each of us to accept the gift and make room in our hearts for the Christ child. Regardless of our current situations, the gift is ours if we choose to accept it. For those who are ready, Christmas is a time to share the gift of God’s grace with those who have not yet made room for Christ in their lives.
As we celebrate today and always we must remember that Christmas is not a single day, but every day of every year. Don’t rush into the day after Christmas events. Keep Christmas alive in your hearts.
May you be filled with the wonder of Mary, the obedience of Joseph, the joy of the angels, the eagerness of the shepherds, the determination of the magi, and the peace of the Christ child. Almighty God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit bless you now and forever. Amen.
Creator God, Thank You for loving us. You have blessed us in ways that we cannot imagine. Thank You. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen
Thought for the day: God wants His home in your home. Will you say that there is no room in the inn, or will you welcome the baby into your home?
Merry Christmas! Pastor Liz
